Between Beit Hillel and Beit Shammai – On Disputes and Tolerance in Jerusalem

January 1, 2024
Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem
Price per participant: ₪75

Join us for a walking tour of about two and a half hours through the historic alleys of Jerusalem, where we will examine the role of dispute in Jewish and Israeli identity and explore questions such as:

  • Is dispute always negative, or can it lead to growth?
  • What does a dispute ‘for Heaven’s sake’ look like as opposed to a dispute that deepens rifts?
And most importantly – how can we learn to live with disputes and manage them more healthily?
  • In Jerusalem, where opinions, perceptions, and beliefs have met for thousands of years, every question takes on a deeper meaning.
  • We will walk the Beit Hillel and Beit Shammai streets, pass through the Morasha neighborhood, and discover places where disputes have become bridges – or walls.

Together we will examine the role of dispute in contemporary Jewish and Israeli identity, and discuss issues relevant to our day.

During the tour we will stroll through central alleys and neighborhoods in the history of Jerusalem, each telling a unique story. This is an easy-level tour.
